For some reason the Pittsburgh Steelers always seem to fly under the radar and are almost never labelled as true Super Bowl contenders. And then at the end of the year there they are. Right in the middle of the playoffs and on their way to another Super Bowl ring. That is exactly what happened last year as they rode consistent play and confidence right past the Arizona Cardinals in February. The question is does this team have what it takes to repeat as champions?

It cannot be argued that the key for the Steelers is, and always has been, defence. Last year the defence was even better than people have become used to from Pittsburgh thanks to Ike Taylor, James Harrison, Troy Polamalu, James Farrior and LaMarr Woodley. They were the best defence in the league and there is really no reason to say that they cannot do the same this year, which means big trouble for the rest of the teams in the AFC.

The Steelers were pretty inactive in the off-season and really didn’t make any changes. For most teams that may be a problem, but it isn’t for Mike Tomlin and this team. They have every piece in place they need to grab another Super Bowl ring thanks to the strong defence, the consistent offence and the leadership of Ben Roethlisberger.

This team will not electrify you or pull out any surprise plays, but they are an absolute joy to watch.
