Adam Pacman Jones Signs with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL

John MurphyHe isn’t the first and he definitely will not be the last, but Adam Pacman Jones is on his way North to play in the CFL. SI.com has reported that Jones has signed a one year deal with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in hopes of getting his career back on track and showing that he can still play football despite all his off the field problems.

Jones has stated that he couldn’t be any happier with the opportunity and feels the experience will help him get back on track and prove what he is capable of. Of course he is disappointed that no NFL team would take a chance on him, but he is trying to focus on the positives for now.

Bombers fans seem to have mixed feelings about the signing. They have to be excited about Jones’ ability to make an impact on a game and be a playmaker, but  they have to be concerned about the attitude and off the field baggage that he carries along at all times. Executive John Murphy says he is thrilled by the coverage the team will get south of the border as more NFL fans and NFL teams will take notice of Winnipeg and be tuning in to see how Jones plays over the rest of the year.

What is most promising for Adam Jones and for the Blue Bombers is that he is still extremely young and has a lot to prove. There is no reason why he shouldn’t be able to bounce back and prove that he can compete on a professional level. If he does make another mistake in Winnipeg though, this could be his last choice to get paid to play pro ball. We will have to wait and see how seriously Jones takes this opportunity and if he can really turn his career and his life around.
