Brett Favre Comes Out of Retirement to Play for the Minnesota Vikings

Tavarias JacksonIt appears that the Brett Favre saga is not actually over at all. Word from the associated press has noted that Favre has taken a flight to Minnesota to meet with Brad Childress and look at a potential contract. For the second time this summer alone Favre changed his mind and will be suiting up for the Vikings in a pre-season game on Friday. So what happened? What changed his mind and made him decide to take to the field?

It appears that Vikings head coach Brad Childress was the reason Favre signed and convinced the three-time MVP at the last minute. He told Favre that he may not feel as young and his arm may not feel as good as it used to but that the Vikings had all the pieces in place to help him grab a Super Bowl title. Childress told Favre that he wouldn’t even be expected to do as much and that the pieces around him could carry him, no matter how old his arm felt.

Once again this year the entire league waited for Favre’s decision all summer long, through May, June, July and most of August. The wait looks to be finally over and Favre’s decision did not take that long on Tuesday. He felt that he was ready to take a chance with the Vikings if they were truly ready to take a change on him.

It should be an exciting year for football fans and especially for Vikings fans. It is rough news for players like Tavarias Jackson who will be backing up Favre now after preparing to be the starting QB all year long. However, if Favre is really able to play up to his capabilities then this really could be the year for the Purple Monsters from Minnesota.
