Once again Brett Favre is taking over in terms of NFL news, and it appears that the all star and future hall of fame quarterback is once again still undecided about his future. Recent reports suggested that Favre has been in contact with the Vikings organization but he is not ready to make a decision on whether or not he will suit up again next week.
While Favre’s antics are nothing new, and there is no reason to decide that he will be making a decision on his future anytime soon, he did make an indication that has some fans salivating at the possibility of a return.
In a recent trip to visit the Southern Miss baseball team, Favre made a promise that if the team were able to repeat last year’s performance and make it back to the College World Series, that he would return to play for one more year in the NFL. While most NFL fans know not to take a lot of what Favre says to heart when it comes to retirement, there is no doubt that this is big news and that many Minnesota Vikings fans will be cheering quite hard for the Southern Miss ball team.
Favre himself has not touched his cleats since the Vikings live NFL loss against the New Orleans Saints last year, however he did sign a 2 year deal with the team before the beginning of last season. What may be news that points to the fact that Favre may not return is that head coach Brad Childress noted that the team has not spoken to Favre other than via text message since the end of the season.
Does that indicate that there are sore feelings between the two parties, or simply that the team is giving Favre space to make a final decision?
No matter how you look at it, one thing is for sure. NFL fans are in for another long and drawn out process before they will have any idea whether the ageless wonder will suit up for the Purple People Eaters next season.
