Latest Update in New York Jets Sexual Harassment Allegations

Roger GoodellThe New York Jets have been under fire lately because of allegations made by a hispanic television reporter that their conduct in the locker room towards her was unprofessional and may even have benn construed as sexual harassment. Now, the NFL has found that the New York Jets were guilty of what they called unprofessional conduct, but found no evidence of physical contact by any member of the Jets or the coaching staff including bumping, touching, brushing up against or any physical contact whatsoever.

According to Roger Goodell, the "conduct of the Jets clearly should have been better.” The team owner of the Jets Woody Johnson and his staff acted quickly to correct the situation. The allegations were brought by Ines Sainz, who is a reporter for TV Azteca, who said that she didn't feel comfortable in the Jet's locker room. Now, the NFL is creating a training program which all thirty teams will have to go through that will teach them how to conduct themselves properly while in the work place. Woody Johnson will write the program, and he apologized to Sainz personally.

This decision was reached after the NFL interviewed seventeen people who were present when the incident occurred, one of them Inez Sainz herself. She was assigned to attend the Jet's practice for Azteca TV. Goodell said, in a letter to Woody Johnson, that the players were making a pass at Sainz when she visited, but that she wasn't touched or subjected to any physical contact by the New York Jets. The incident included catcalls that were made as Sainz waited for an interview with Mark Sanchez who is of Mexican descent.
