Michael Vick Officially Reinstated by the NFL

It has finally become official. Michael Vick has been reinstated to the NFL and will be allowed to play, that is if he finds a team. While the reinstatement is a big step for Vick, the harder part of the entire process may be finding a team that is willing to give him a shot. Keep in mind that he has not played a game in years and it is very late in the off season for a team to risk the chemistry and gel of their entire team on a player that will undoubtedly be rusty and have a lot to prove. 

After serving 18 months in jail for running an illegal dogfighting ring,Vick was reinstated on Monday by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The word is that he will be allowed to participate in all team activities such as scrimmages and practices and could be allowed to play in the regular season by week 6 at the latest. The problem is that a large number of teams have already said that they have no interest in signing the former superstar, but this reinstatement could change their minds quite a bit. 

The New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, and Atlanta Falcons have all admitted that they have absolutely no desire to sign the former highest paid player in the league. There are some rumblings out of Buffalo, Tampa Bay, and even Minnesota that the teams might be interested, but no one within the front office is willing to say a word. The Vikings decision may have a lot to do with whether or not Brett Favre considers coming out of retirement. Recently Buffalo Bills star Terrell Owens has spoken his mind and said he would love to have Vick on the team, but it appears management is quite happy to play out the season with current starter Trent Edwards.  

No matter what happens now it will be very exciting to see what comes of this situation. Vick is getting a second chance and will definitely want to make the most of it. He just needs to prove himself to the world and persuade an NFL team that he can lead them to the playoffs and play the way he used to.
