For the Pittsburgh Steelers this week turned out to be quite a promising one as Ben Roethlisberger returned for the team and played like he was in mid season form. Roethlisberger finished the game with 168 yards and completed 15 of 19 passes. Overall the Steelers dominated the Buffalo Bills and came away with a 17-0 win in both of the team’s third preseason games. RB Rashard Mendenhall also led the way with 48 yards on the ground and a touchdown as well as 16 yards receiving on two catches.
In another comeback, Matt Hasselbeck came in for the Seattle Seahawks and threw for 2 TD’s after missing most of last year with an injury. If the Seahawks hope to be more competitive this year they are going to need Hasselbeck to lead the way more than ever, but it looks like he is ready to do that. The Hawks came away with a 14-10 victory in a game which brought about a lot of bad news for Kansas City Chiefs. Starting QB Matt Cassel left the game with an apparent leg injury and there is no word from the team as to how serious it may be. If he misses an extended period of time it could put a big damper on the Chiefs season.
Right after being named the starting QB for the season Mark Sanchez stepped up and proved he deserved the spot in a 27-25 win for the New York Jets over the New York Giants. Sanchez was right on the mark all game long as he threw for 149 yards and a beautiful 31 yard TD pass. If he can keep up that kind of play it will go along way in helping the Jets compete this year and prove why the took Sanchez in this year’s draft.
