Pro Bowl Moved to Miami

Live NFLWith recent news out of the NFL that the super bowl may be moved to London, England as early as 2014, the league looks set to make another change. The NFL has decided to move the pro bowl from its usual location in Hawaii to Miami for the first time ever. There is hope that by making the game more accessible it will also become more popular. On top of this the stadium in Honolulu can only hold 50,000 screaming fans while Dolphin stadium will be able to hold up to 72,000. The increase in revenue from the extra seats alone makes it worthwhile for the league. The idea also surfaced because it is obviously hard to get tickets to the Super Bowl. So the NFL is hoping that by allowing an easier opportunity to get tickets for the Pro Bowl it will appease more fans.

Not only is the NFL trying to make the game more appealing by holding it in the continental US but they are also making changes to the overall structure. There will now be an open field practice held the day before the game and tickets for the event will be extremely affordable for football fans from all over.

There is thought that the Pro Bowl could bring an estimated 150,000 football fans to the area which would be a definite boost for the economy within Miami. The game itself is scheduled to move back to Hawaii for 2011 and 2012 but there is debate about where it will be held in 2013. Many within the league are discussing the possibility of moving the game every year to a new location in order to make it easier for more fans to attend but others like the idea of it being held in a set location.

The Hawaiian government itself is a little bit upset over this recent news as it will obviously have an effect on the economy within the area. The Pro Bowl has been a stable in Hawaii for a number of years and a consistent move of the venue could have a larger impact than some people expect. In the end, the idea of the Pro Bowl being moved each year is great for the common football fan that cannot afford to get to Hawaii. And that is what the NFL should be all able; allowing easy access to all the superstars for the real everyday fans. That being said it is still appropriate to analyze and deal with the effect it could have on Hawaii. The league cannot just simply ignore the fans that have put a lot of love and passion into the Pro Bowl over the years in the area.
