Will LaDainian Tomlinson head Minnesota

LaDainian TomlinsonRecently released and former all-star running back LaDainian Tomlinson is already attracting interest from NFL teams, and the Minnesota Vikings seem to be leading the way. The Vikings wined and dine Tomlinson this week in hopes that they could persuade him to come to town and team up with Adrian Peterson. The duo could be almost impossible to stop next year for opposing defenses.

Tomlinson refused to comment on the situation to the media, but did come out of the meeting with a Vikings jersey in hand. However, he is now scheduled to meet with the New York Jets this weekend. The decision to meet a few different teams shows that Tomlinson is weighing heavily on the decision and making sure that he selects to go to a team that can contend for a Super Bowl, and give him a good chance to play.

He has had 9 incredible seasons with the Chargers, for the most part, and could be the perfect fit as a third down back to compliment any running game, and that is especially true for the Vikings as they lost Chester Taylor.

In New York, it appears that Tomlinson would be backing up Shonn Greene, who took over the starting job and allowed the Jets to let go of Thomas Jones. Jones himself was then picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chester Taylor is a very dependable running back but he moved onto the Chicago Bears, but the catching ability of Tomlinson could be a huge asset to have for the Vikings.

This is the first year that Tomlinson has been a free agent, as he was released by the team that drafted him in 2001. He is 8th all time with 12,490 yards rushing and is second all time with 138 touchdowns.

That is the type of offense that any team could benefit from.
