The Edmonton Eskimos will be looking for revenge against the top CFL team in the league on Friday. They will be facing the Montreal Alouettes for the first time since they were dominated by a score of 50-16 in Week 2. It seems they have turned their season around since then even though the lost star running back Jesse Lumsden, and will be using the short week for momentum.

The Eskimos are coming off a big comeback victory against the Saskatchewan Roughriders after overcoming a devastating 22 point deficit. The energy was there for the team, they played together, and they gave Saskatchewan and the rest of the CFL a taste of what they may be able to do this year. However this week is going to be an all new taste as they take on the seemingly unstoppable Alouettes.
Last week was the biggest test for Montreal as they were taken to the brink by the Hamilton Tiger Cats. Their offence was stymied but they were able to come away with another victory thanks to their stifling defence that shut out the Ti-Cats in the second half of the game. Much of the credit for the team’s success has to be given to head coach Marc Trestman and of course journeyman QB Anthony Calvillo.

Calvillo is a sure fire future hall of famer and is leading the way this year, but is followed closely by Eskimos QB Ricky Ray. Ray is third overall in the league in passing and has really stepped up his game since Lumsden went down with an injury. Rookie receivers Calvin McCarty and Arkee Whitlock have been difference makers for the team and are both trying to catch up to Montreal slotback Ben Cahoon in receiving yards.
The focus of the game will definitely be on the highly touted offences, but the defences can play too. The team whose defence can step up and make a big play or a big stop should be able to come away with a big win.
