This week in the NFL we start the preseason off with the first week of games. In Week One, the Indianapolis Colts and the St Louis Rams will play at the Edward Jones Dome, in a game that starts at 8:00PM on Saturday, August 13^th. Also playing on Saturday, the Minnesota Vikings and the Tennessee Titans at LP Field at 8:00PM as well and the Buffalo Bills and the Chicago Bears facing off at Soldier Field. Also, Green Bay will visit Cleveland at 7:30PM on Saturday and the Giants will take on the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium.

The Indianapolis Colts will be missing linebacker Ernie Sims this week according to Coach Jim Caldwell, and perhaps the following week as well as he recovers from an appendectomy. Meanwhile, the Rams have given Steve Jackson some backup in the form of Running Back Cadillac Williams, previously of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Week Seven: Another match-up. This time it's the Indianapolis Colts and the St Louis Rams, who will be playing at the Ram's home turf, the Edward Jones Dome. It has been a long time since these two teams faced off there, in fact the last time they were both there was back in 2001. Of course, so much has changed since then, that it is impossible to look at what happened there as indicative of this game. Okay, so maybe the Rams haven't hosted the Colts for a while, but they did play them in 2005 where they had their respective padded rears handed to them 45-28 in week six of that season. Now, they are 0 and 6 and under new coach Steve Spanuolo as well as new talent on the field. Names like Stephen Jackson, Jason Smith and Chris Long have to be passed around Rams fans and administration as those who might take the team to a new level. They are a team with plenty of talent, but having not yet found their niche.

As for the Colts, they shouldn't have any problem holding off the Rams offense, but if they want to make it to the playoffs then you need to run the ball much better than they have been. They struggled running the ball against the Cardinals, Titans and Dolphins, but this is understandable as all these teams are in the top ten against running, with the Cardinals ranked number one, but they should be able to run against the Rams with no effort.
