In the first week of the preseason in the National Football League, the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Falcons start the journey to the Superbowl with a tournament at the Georgia Dome on Friday, August 12^th with the game supposed to start at 7:30PM. Two other games will happen on Friday at the same time. One of them is between Cincinnati and Detroit at Ford Field and the other is between Pittsburgh and Washington at FedEx Field. There are also two games at 8:00PM between San Francisco and New Orleans and the Buccaneers and the KC Chiefs.

These teams have played each other three times since 2001. Atlanta leads those games two to one. Miami lost the most recent game, played in September of 2009, taking only 7 points to Atlanta's 19. Then, in 2005 Miami lost once again. However, the first game that the two teams played past 2001, Miami beat Atlanta 21 to 14.
