Sunday 1st January 17:00 - 20:00 GMT
On Sunday, January 1st, the St Louis Rams will host the San Francisco 49ers in Week Seventeen, the final week of play for the NFL's regular season. These two teams will compete at 1:00PM at the Edward Jones Dome. The 49ers have not yet taken the number two seeded spot in the NFC Playoffs as they were hoping to. However, they probably have the first round bye in the bag, as they prepare to face the worst team in the NFC this year. They will face the Rams in the seventeenth week of the regular season, the last week.

The San Francisco 49ers are twelve and three right now and are looking at their first playoffs since 2002. The Rams have lost six straight games and have been outscored in those games 150 to 53. Even if San Francisco loses this game, they could still have the bye if the New Orleans Saints lose to the Carolina Panthers, because the Forty-Niners own the tie breaker. One of the biggest NFC West battles of the year will take place on Christmas weekend as the struggling, yet still in the playoff race, 49ers team takes on an impressive and surprisingly good team from St. Louis in what is best defined as an early playoff game. Both teams need this win for a variety of reasons so you can believe they will be pulling out all the steps and leaving everything on the field. Tune in to find out if Sam Bradford can pick up another win in his rookie season or if Troy Smith can help the 49ers somehow find their way into the playoffs, by simply sticking here on WatchLiveNFL.com for the San Francisco 49ers vs. St. Louis Rams live game.

If the 49ers can win all of their remaining games and happen to watch the Seahawks lose one of theirs, then they will actually be in position to have home field advantage in the playoffs. That is huge for a team that started so poorly, especially with all of the rumblings that Mike Singletary may be fired. However, you had to know that this team would not be kept down long thanks to the strong play of Patrick Willis on defense and having a star like Frank Gore leading the running game. For this week, everyone should make note of the fact that Troy Smith is 4-1 all time against the Rams, and will be doing everything he can to move that record to 5-1.

For the Rams, a win this week would help them surpass their win total from the last 3 years in a row combined, and you better believe that is exactly what they will be trying to do. They will pull out all of the stops this week and if their defense can continue to be surprisingly stingy, then Bradford should be able to pick up enough points along with Steven Jackson to pick up the W.

The NFC West has been an absolutely battle this year, and that is what makes this game an absolute must-see. Make sure you do not miss an exciting moment by sticking here on WatchLiveNFL.com for the San Francisco 49ers vs. St Louis Rams live game.

In the previous San Francisco 49ers vs. St. Louis Rams live game the Niners came up big defensively and offensively to destroy the Rams by the score of 35-0. With both teams out of playoff contention you can be certain that the Rams will be looking for revenge while the 49ers will be looking to round out their season on a positive note. With both teams flying onto the field and playing for pride, you will not want to miss this game. The big story for the 49ers this week is the development of Michael Crabtree. He skipped out on training camp and even the first 5 games of the season as he held out for a better contract but has improved quite a bit since taking to the field. He still requires as much playing time as possible to make up for lost time which is why he should be at the forefront of the offense all game long.
Aside from Crabtree the focus will also be on Vernon Davis and his ability to score touchdowns. He currently only trails Randy Moss in terms of touchdown catches. If he can find a way to get into the end zone and pass Moss then he will become the first tight end ever to end the season with the most touchdown receptions.

St. Louis has been out of the playoffs for quite some time now so they have been setting in motion plans for next year. It will be interesting to see how much playing time Danny Amendola gets this weekend and who else can come up with a big game. Any big plays will really go a long way into securing a starting spot for next year, and that is pretty much all that is on the line for this year.
